The Best of Patsy Montana has 24 of her seminal Vocalion and Conqueror recordings spanning the years 1935-1940, concluding with "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Dreamgirl," a barely rewritten reprise of her big hit. "The She Buckaroo" displays a proto-feminist outlook that balances the cowboy worship of "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart," but most of the remaining material consists of straight Western fare.
