Great Movie But Not an Entirely Accurate Biography
I thought it was an excellent movie. Luke Perry, Cynthia Geary and Stephen Baldwin all turn in excellent performances. Having worked as a ranch and feedyard cowboy (though not a rodeo cowboy)I felt that the overall portrayal of cowboys was pretty realistic. I would rank it up there with "The Good Old Boys" and "The Hi-Lo Country" in that respect. Given my background I really related to the hopes, dreams and heartaches of the characters. I found the movie truly heart-wrenching. My only problem is that the producers play at a little too loose with the facts or Frost's life. The website maintained by Frost's family asserts that: 1)His relationship with his father was much better than portrayed in the movie 2)Infidelity was NOT the source of his 1988 marriage problems and 3)the film should have referenced Frost's Christian beliefs. Finally I found it ironic that not 1 song from Chis Ledoux who had a cult following among rodeo cowboys made it into the soundtrack. None-the-less I find it a great movie--buy it.
